Dealing with Anxiety
As our world grapples with the chaos, fear, and anxieties surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, we’ve enlisted the help of Dr. Robbie Sherrill – a well-respected licensed biblical counselor in our area – to help us navigate these unprecedented times while faithfully following Jesus every step of the way. Delivered via video-recording, this class includes three sessions that tackle the following topics:
- Anxiety Defined – Introduction to anxiety, it’s signs, and how to deal with it.
- Renew Your Mind – Digging deeper into the tools God gives us to process anxiety.
- Remember the Children – How to navigate hard moments and anxiety with kids.
Each session is available in full for video replay below. We pray these resources will help you as you seek to faithfully follow Jesus through these anxious days. Session 1 – Anxiety Defined
In this first session, Dr. Robbie Sherrill spends some time defining anxiety. What exactly is it? How can I tell if I’m anxious? What are the signs? Additionally, Dr. Sherrill identifies three specific types of anxieties that are common to us all. She also begins to give us some specific tools to help us fight against anxiety and worry during uncertain times.
Session 2 – Renew Your Mind
In this second session, Dr. Robbie Sherrill continues to give us the tools that will help us to fight against anxiety. Specifically, she explains how we, as followers of Jesus, can live out Romans 12:2 as an effective way of battling against worry and anxiety. Furthermore, we will spend some time discussing the choices that we all have when we are faced with the temptation to become worried and anxious.
Session 3 – Remember the Children
In this final session (for parents to help their children), Dr. Robbie Sherrill gives us some extremely helpful wisdom in facing uncertain times and how we can all respond in a godly way. Dr. Sherrill answers questions like: What should I say to my kids? What shouldn’t I say to my kids? How can I be honest without overwhelming them? How can I communicate with my child in a faithful way during uncertain times?
