Politics & the Gospel

Rethinking Faith & Government in Our Divisive Age

Led by Brian Abernathy

We cannot escape politics. Some of us may want to, others may not, but none of us can avoid it. We are all bombarded with politics regularly in our lives as Americans. Amidst changing morals in our culture, political issues have become louder and more divisive than ever before - especially in a presidential election year. It can be incredibly challenging to navigate!

This August, we will be hosting a one-night forum entitled Politics and the Gospel to engage with these issues. Proverbs 24:21 tells us to “fear the LORD and the king, and do not join with those who do otherwise.” How do we honor this exhortation when the “kings” of our world seem to walk increasingly further away from the Bible? How do we live as faithful citizens of this world while never compromising on our ultimate citizenship in the next? In this forum, we will examine the biblical foundations for government, how to honor worldly authority while serving the Lord, and how to approach politics to ensure we’re advancing the Gospel, not just the party line.
