SAY

That was fun learning new things about you! Today we’re going to learn something new about God’s Word, the Bible. Did you know God’s Word has power? It does! Let me hear you say this after me:

God’s Word (make book with hands)

Has Power (show muscles)

ASK your Preschooler:

Did God give us the Bible to help us know how much He loves jewels or us? (Us)

That’s right! The Bible is God’s story of love for us, and it has power!

Does God’s Word have power to help us find treasure or help us love God? (Love God)

ASK your Elementary Schooler:

Did God promise that He is making all things shiny or all things new? (All things new)

Who will God send to make all things right? (Jesus)

Is the book of Revelation the ending of a story?
(No, it’s the beginning to our forever and tells us how we will live in heaven with God one day)

DO & SAY

Let’s find treasure! Have kids collect the following treasure and bring back to your gathering spot. Then ask the following questions, or assist kids in locating specific verses and share the promise God makes from that verse.

Something gold - Does God’s Word, the Bible, have gold or power? (Power)

Toy ship - Does God’s Word help us know how to steer the ship or how to live? (How to live) Yay-hey, mateys! God’s Word gives us power to know how to live.

Band-Aid/Bandage - If you are sick, would it help you to remember that Polly is a parrot or that God can do anything? (God can do anything) Yes!

Favorite toy - How much do you love this toy? (Kids respond) Do you think God loves you more than that? (Kids respond) He does! God loves you so much that He gave you the Bible, His story of all He has done, because He loves you! Knowing He loves us
and knowing His Word gives us power.

Bible - Look up the following verses and share the promises that God makes.
• John 3:16 - God promises to give us eternal life with Him.
• 1 John 1:9 - God promises to forgive our sins.
• John 14:2-3 - God promises Jesus will return, and we’ll live with Him in heaven.
• Psalm 32:8 - God promises to teach us His ways. Knowing His ways and His Word gives us power!

God’s words are more powerful than anything else! Say this after me:
God’s Word (make book with hands)
Has Power (show muscles)

PRAY

Hey God! Thank You for giving us the gift of Your words in the Bible. Thank You for giving us power as we read and remember Your Word! Help us to want to read it and treasure it every day. In Jesus’ name we pray.

Amen

SAY & DO

Have your kids repeat the verse in a fun way. Then allow your child to say it from memory. Give them a treat for working hard to memorize it!

“Your Word (make book with hands)
to me, Your servant, (thumbs to chest)
is like pure gold; (wiggle fingers)
I treasure what You say.”(hands over heart)
