Worship at Emmaus

It's always, only about King Jesus.

“Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing!” - Revelation 5:12

More than a song

When many people hear the word “worship,” they think of a music style, a ritual, or the songs surrounding a sermon. In reality, worship is simply ascribing worth to someone or something. It’s more than singing; it’s declaring and displaying what we value most. With that in view, everyone worships—so the real question is not if you worship, but who or what you worship.

Convictions about Worship

  1. Worship begins with belief: We must first believe that God is worth everything we can offer (Psalm 96:4, Psalm 150:6, Psalm 106:12).
  2. Worship is a response: It's our reaction to God's grace and mercy through Jesus, where He offers eternal life and disarms death (Colossians 2:14, John 4:23-24).
  3. Worship extends into lifestyle: It goes beyond church services; true worship reflects how we prioritize our time, money, and attention (Colossians 3:17, 3:23-24).
  4. Worship is sacrificial: We must choose to dedicate our resources to God instead of lesser pursuits (Romans 12:1, Luke 9:23, Galatians 2:20).
  5. Worship is centered on Jesus: He is the object of all of our affections, and we exist to glorify His name (Colossians 1:15, Revelation 1:8, Isaiah 44:6, John 14:6).

Singing + Music

Music carries a unique power in worship, and its impact can be seen in several key ways: it engages our minds, bodies, and spirits at once; it reinforces biblical truth as we sing Scripture-shaped lyrics; it reflects the church’s diversity as voices and instruments blend; it gives language to a wide range of human emotions while pointing us to deeper realities; and it helps reorient our hearts, even shifting us from discouragement toward faith and gratitude.

"Through him then let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that acknowledge his name." - Hebrews 13:15
